Planning for a pet memorial

How much might I have?

A pet's cremains are approximately 3.5% of their body weight. Bone structure and the cremation process can make results vary, so use this as a planning estimate; the crematory can confirm the actual weight.

Good to know

Clear answers before you begin.

Do I need to send everything?

No. Select the amount you want crafted. Cremains received above the purchased amount are returned home with your completed order.

How long does production take?

Most orders are crafted within 7 business days after the cremains arrive. Please allow up to two weeks for us to prepare and ship the completed order back.

How do I follow my order?

Your Order & Shipping Guide carries the reference and next steps for your selected route. Keep that reference with your shipping receipt, and include it in any message to us about your memorial.

How are my loved one's cremains kept safe?

Each order is assigned its own reference and kept in its own clearly labeled box. I am the only person handling orders in the workshop, and I work with each order separately. Completed pieces and any unused cremains are carefully packaged and returned home together.

Is it okay to do this?

Yes, we think so. Memorial traditions take many forms. This is an artistic way to honor a life and keep that person or pet close. What matters is choosing what feels right for you and your family.

Is every bit of cremains used?

No. This is an artisan process, and a small amount may be lost while the clay-like material is mixed, formed, and hand-finished. We use the selected amount with care, but we cannot promise that every particle will become part of the finished pieces. Families who prefer a laboratory-style service designed to solidify the full amount may wish to consider Parting Stone.

Will my pieces match the photographs exactly?

Each order is handmade. Color placement, surface pattern, and visible cremains vary naturally from one order to another.

How are cremains shipped?

USPS requires cremated remains to travel by Priority Mail Express in the required Cremated Remains packaging. We can mail you a kit and handle its return shipment to the workshop; allow 5–7 business days for it to arrive. You can also order a free USPS kit yourself or have a crematory send directly. In those direct routes, the sender arranges the required Priority Mail Express postage. Completed pieces and any unused cremains return home with us. Read USPS Publication 139.
